RECORD PLANT LAUNCHES IN N.Y.
The Record Plant legend begins as the first studio is launched in New York City. Jimi Hendrix's
Electric Ladyland is the studio's first session.

1969
RECORD PLANT L.A. OPENS
The first big mix session, Woodstock soundtrack, and the first remote recording,
Concert for Bangladesh follow shortly thereafter. Record Plant LA opens.
Tracks increase from 12 to 16.
INCREDIBLE LINE-UP.
Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Buddy Miles, Velvet Underground, Traffic and Vanilla Fudge record in the Record Plant's living-room environment on then radical 12-track equipment.
1970s
NON-STOP HITS
Record Plant becomes legendary for nonstop hit recordings, wild lifestyles and technological leaps. The Eagles Hotel California, Stevie Wonder's Talking Book, Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life, John Lennon's Rock 'n' Roll, Fleetwood Mac's Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, Wings' London Town and more are recorded there. Warner-7 Arts becomes a part owner and Record Plant becomes the world's first studio to go 24-track and later 32-track digital.
1974
ONE LAST JAM
John Lennon and Paul McCartney play together for the last time in an all-night jam session at Record Plant in Hollywood.
1977
CO-FOUNDER DIES
Studio Co-Founder and respected recording engineer, Gary Kellgren, tragically drowns in his swimming pool.
1978
FIRE!
Fire destroys Record Plant studio C.
1980s
RECORD PLANT SURGES
Record Plant is at the forefront as recording technology evolves.
Another decade of hits by Bruce Springsteen, Tears for Fears, Chicago, REO Speedwagon,
Heart, Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Rod Stewart, Motley Crue, The Tubes and more.
Record Plant scoring stages L and M open on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood.

RECORD PLANT MOVES
Record Plant's Third Street facility closes with the famous Superstar Jam.
Record Plant reopens at its current Sycamore Avenue location in Hollywood
in the former Radio Recorders Annex, an historic studio where Elvis Presley recorded.

FORMER BEATLES PRODUCER HEADS RECORD PLANT PURCHASE
Chrysalis Studio Group headed by Beatles producer George Martin buys Record Plant.

1991
STEVENS TRANSFORMS RECORD PLANT
Veteran music executive Rick Stevens and partner Tom Kirch buy the legendary "Lady of Rock"
and commit the resources necessary to make it number one again. Stevens vision is for the studio
to become like a high tech living room with the service level and ambiance of a 5 Star Hotel!
1992
RECORD PLANT ADDS MORE STUDIOS
A multi-million dollar upgrade adds 3 new state of the art studios. The five room complex
is complemented by a dramatic new indoor atrium, complete with jacuzzi, billiards, coffee
bar and other amenities.
1993
RECORD PLANT CELEBRATES 25 YEARS
Record Plant is once again on top as the world's premier recording facility.
Guns N' Roses, Prince, Michael Bolton, Barbara Streisand, Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam,
and Red Hot Chili Peppers all make music there. Record Plant is nominated for a coveted
TEC Award as Studio Of The Year. The honor is especially significant as it is Record Plant's 25th birthday year!
1994
RECORD PLANT IS STUDIO OF THE YEAR
For the second year in a row Record Plant is nominated and wins the TEC Award as Studio Of The Year.
Barbara Streisand, Julio Iglesias, Mick Jagger, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, No Doubt, Van Halen, Duran Duran
& Neil Diamond and Nine Inch Nails are all clients who hit the top of the charts.
1995
MORE GREAT TALENT
For the third straight year, Record Plant is nominated as Studio Of The Year.
AC/DC, Babyface, Prince, Celine Dion, Liza Minelli, Bob Dylan and Whitney Houston
with soundtrack hits like the #1 Waiting to Exhale coninue Record Plant's star-studded
hit tradition. International stars France Gall, Luis Miguel, Mana, T.R.F. and Seung Hwan
Lee add to the list as well.

RECORD PLANT CLIENTS NOMINATED FOR 28 GRAMMY® AWARDS
Another outstanding year has Record Plant clients nominated for 28 Grammy Awards as well
as a TEC Award nomination for Studio of the Year, with clients Babyface, Toni Braxton,
Porno For Pyros, Social Distortion, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross and International artists
like Jaguares, Luis Miguel, Mari Hamada, D.O.S. and T-Square.

POP-CHARTS TO SOUNDTRACKS
Record Plant's history of providing the creative environment for chart-toppers continues
with superstars like Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Janet Jackson, Courtney Love and Hole,
Brandy and soundtracks to movie hits like Howard Stern's Private Parts.

RECORD PLANT TURNS 30
Entering its 30th year, Record Plant remains on the cutting edge and at the top of the charts.
Celine Dion, Marilyn Manson, Mariah Carey, Seal, Janet Jackson, and Julio Iglesias are all clients
of Record Plant this year. Hit songs from the soundtracks Godzilla, Mulan, and Dawson's Creek
all come from our facilities. Longtime Studio Manager, Rose Mann-Cherney is promoted to
President of Record Plant Recording Studios, becoming the highest ranking female
executive in the recording studio industry!
1999
RECORD PLANT OPENS WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED 5.1 SURROUND MUSIC ROOM
SSL3 is redesigned to become the music world's most advanced 5.1 surround mixing room.
With this upgrade, Record Plant continues to be recognized as the leader in the audio
industry and the room is featured in the publications Mix, ProSound News, and Surround
Professional. Meanwhile, the rest of Record Plant undergoes a $1.5 million renovation,
including equipment upgrades and aesthetic improvements. Eminem, 3 Doors Down, Santana
featuring Rob Thomas, Brandy, Christina Aguilera and others record and mix dozens of
multi-platinum hits at Record Plant in 1999.
2000s

RECORD PLANT IS STUDIO OF THE YEAR ONCE AGAIN
The millenium ends with another banner year for Record Plant. Elton John, Sisqo, Bon Jovi,
Michael Jackson and Don Henley are just a few of the artists who spend time on Sycamore
Avenue performing, mixing, and perfecting their upcoming releases. Soundtrack work includes
songs for The Road To El Dorado, Mission Impossible 2, and the full soundtrack to the
Warner Bros. film Rock Star. This is also the first full year of surround projects
in the newly upgraded SSL3. 5.1 surround mixes include albums by Don Henley,
Luis Miguel, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Record Plant is once again nominated
for the TEC Award for Studio of the Year and Record Plant proves that it is still
at the forefront of music technology and the recording industry by taking home the award.
2001
RECORD PLANT CONTINUES ITS RICH TRADITION
Record Plant clients for the year have already worked on such hugely anticipated albums
as Michael Jackson's Invincible, Macy Gray's The Id, and No Doubt's Rock Steady and recent
releases from 'N Sync and the Black Crowes, a number one single by Case, and a special
television project by matchbox twenty. Surround mixing projects include the Alice In
Chains DVD and a 5.1 remix of the R.E.M. album, Reveal. Record Plant President Rose
Mann-Cherney becomes a partner in Record Plant!
September 2001
RECORD PLANT PITCHES IN
On September 23rd Producer Terry Date was already ensconced in Studio 1 working with
Fred Durst and Bono on a Limp Bizkit-style "rock mix" for Artists Against AIDS Worldwide
"What's Going On." That project, which also featured guest appearances at the Record Plant
sessions by Jennifer Lopez, Perry Farrell and Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland, was well
underway before September 11th. Realizing that the powerful healing message of
"What's Going On" extended beyond the scope of the project's original aim, a decision
was made to donate 50% of its proceeds to United Way's September 11th Fund.

RECORD PLANT HONORED BY THE GRAMMY MUSEUM
In November Record Plant is proudly honored in the NARAS Grammy Museum along
side the greats of the business. During the year the studio stays busy with
a diverse group of Grammy Nominated musicians including Beyonce, The Cure,
Lil Wayne, Luis Miguel, T.I., Madonna, will.i.am and N.E.R.D. In addition
to an A-list group of musicians and producers Record Plant has also been home
to many film shoots and movie scores this year such as Sex In the City, Black
Water Transit, The Clique Girls and jingles for companies such as Ford, American
Idol and Alltel. Record Plant was also proud to support such charity groups
as the "Yes We Can" music video produced by will.i.am for the Barack Obama
campaign early in 2008.
